24th to the 26th of June 2015: WE&B presented at the WIE 2015 Event.
WE&B recently presented at the Water Innovation Europe (WIE) Event. The WIE has become the flagship annual event for the water sector in Europe, that attracts more and more stakeholders from across the whole water value chain each year. The 2015 edition was dedicated to ‘The role of water in the circular economy‘
There were over 250 attendees from all around Europe who took part in the conference that offered crucial insights into the role of water in the circular economy including an open and dynamic platform to have stimulating discussions, share ideas and initiate collaborations.
The agenda included 40 speakers, a range of interactive sessions and the WssTP Water Innovation SMEs Awards. The first day was dedicated to the introduction of European projects that are at the cutting edge of research, demonstration and Innovation in the Water Sector. Day 2 included key note speakers introducing water in the circular economy and how it relates to Junkers agenda. This theme was then further investigated through three panel discussions on Industry, Agriculture and Cities.
Day 3 included how water in the circular economy relates to jobs and growth in Europe and how certain European projects are making a concerted impact in this regard. It was here that the FP7 project DEMOWARE was invited to present its results thus far. David Smith from WE&B was invited to present the impact that DEMOWARE is having in Europe in this regard. He presented aspects related to the Water Reuse Europe Association, the results of the Market Analysis of key water reuse technologies and the cost benefit analysis tool that will bring an advanced water reuse implementation tool to treatment scheme operators.
The conference was wrapped up through holding the annual WssTP Stakeholders meeting, where a new board of directors were elected.
