On the 30th and 31st of January 2018, WE&B together with the project partner El Centro del Agua para America Latina y el Caribe participated together with COMO VAMOS LA PAZ to close the WaterClima LAC project in the pilot area, La Paz, Mexico. As part of the closing activities, WE&B run a workshop on discovering how Integrated Water Resource Managment (IWRM) and Coastal Zone Managment can be implemented moving forward beyond WaterClima LAC activities. The workshop was facilitated together with COMO VAMOS LA PAZ and El Centro del Agua para America Latina y el Caribe.

Although the project activities have concluded in this pilot area, a lot of positive action in the water sector has now just started. Local stakeholders such as COMO VAMOS LA PAZ (http://www.comovamoslapaz.org) and NIPARAJA (http://niparaja.org) have taken over the baton to continue working on the positive social movement in the water sector.

The economic studies and cost-benefit analysis will aid the local water company OOMSAPAS and SAPAS to make better decisions on implementing water meters and charging the appropriate tariffs.

Agreements and memoranda of understanding have been signed by universities, civil society organisations and the local government to ensure that the positive actions from WaterClima LAC continues.

Although La Paz is facing a water crisis there is a lot of positive movement to implement IWRM that will ensure that all actors pull together to resolve this issue.
