Objective & Description

The SYNGGI project aimed to support individual modular projects by fostering connections and integration among them, under the overarching objective of promoting Green Growth in the Mediterranean. The community of projects consisted of 14 initiatives involving 165 partners from 13 Mediterranean countries, with a total budget of approximately €30 million. These projects addressed various topics, including agro-food, eco-innovation, smart cities, waste management, and green growth financing.

The activities supported key Green Growth priority areas in the Mediterranean. The project was designed to unify the results of various projects and present them in a way that benefits MED stakeholders, creating a collaborative and productive environment for all involved parties. Furthermore, the project aligned with the Interreg-MED strategy, acting as a horizontal initiative that bridged the Modular projects. Networks and clusters of both private and public entities were brought together, forming a vast network of key groups, including SMEs, academia, and governing authorities. SYNGGI was structured to support communication and capitalization activities.

Services provided by WE&B

Under the Project, WE&B successfully developed/delivered the following services:
WE&B was contracted to establish and manage a working group (Community of Practice, CoP) focused on Green Growth in the Mediterranean. As part of this role, WE&B undertook the following activities:
• WE&B facilitated the formation and ongoing management of the community of practice, bringing together stakeholders from across the Mediterranean.
• WE&B identified key thematic areas within Green Growth for further exploration and action within the Mediterranean region.
• WE&B produced a series of four technical reports (White Papers), each covering a specific topic related to the CoP, along with one general report. These reports were informed by the outcomes of the Thematic Working Groups and aligned with the EU Circular Economy Action Plan and associated indicators.

The following White Papers and Factsheets were developed by WE&B:
