Objective & Description

WAT’SAVEREUSE aims to promote the benefits of water-saving and reuse, especially in the tourism sector, to support a circular economy and tackle water scarcity in the Mediterranean region.

The project raises awareness and supports better water policies by working with four main target groups. It focuses on actions at the national, regional, and local levels to create shared responsibility between public authorities and businesses.

To manage water scarcity, WAT’SAVEREUSE addresses both reducing water use (demand side) and increasing water availability (supply side).

The Project’s specific goals are:
• Cut water use by tourists by at least 10%. Measured by water use before and after awareness campaigns.
• Raise awareness about water reuse among tourism businesses and improve public perception of reused water by at least 9%. Measured through surveys before and after campaigns.
• Get tourism businesses to adopt at least 5 water reuse solutions. Measured by the number of new technologies put in place.
• Improve cooperation between public authorities and tourism actors.Measured by signed agreements, joint strategies, and policy documents.
• Reduce total freshwater use by 30%.Measured through combined savings and reuse figures.
