Factsheets

Concise, information-rich documents that summarise key data, findings, or messages specifically on environmental topics for quick reference.

Objective & Description

The SwitchMed initiative, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNIDO, UNEP, and MedWaves, was launched in 2013 to promote sustainable consumption and production in the Southern Mediterranean. It focuses on circular economy approaches to decouple human development from environmental degradation.

The initiative benefits Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia, supporting policy makers, eco-innovative SMEs, industries, start-ups, and entrepreneurs. Its activities include policy development, demonstration projects, and networking to foster eco and social innovations, addressing job creation and natural resource protection as key priorities for economic stability.

Services provided by WE&B

WE&B conducted an integrated analysis of the SwitchMed best practices and produced ten factsheets. These factsheets aim to disseminate the knowledge and achievements accumulated over the ten years of the SwitchMed project, thereby enhancing the visibility and dissemination of activities within the four thematic areas: Policy, Industry, Green Entrepreneurs, and Networking Facility. This effort supports the SwitchMed Networking and Communication (N&C) area in developing and implementing an Impact Communication strategy by crafting content for the final project campaign.

Two main activities were developed throughout the consultancy:

  • The first activity, Structure Development, included a kickoff meeting with the SwitchMed team to align objectives, expectations, and deliverables. This was followed by a stage of documentation review, data and information analysis on key themes, achievements, and highlights for each project component, and the development of a factsheet template.
  • The second activity, Factsheet Development, focused on preparing the ten deliverables. The WE&B team prepared drafts that were reviewed and validated by the client and their teams of experts. After the revision stage, the drafts were updated in content, format, and design to their final versions.
