The Government of Jordan, in collaboration with the World Bank, has launched the Inclusive, Transparent, and Climate Responsive Investments Program-for-Results (PforR) to promote climate-responsive investments and sustainable economic growth. Within this Program, a citizen engagement action plan is to be developed.
Integrated Integrated and WE&B were selected as the consulting firms to prepare a Climate Change and Citizen Engagement Action Plan for this Program.
Under the Project, WE&B successfully developed/delivered the following services:
• Prepared background report on climate change and citizen engagement in Jordan.
• Prepared of a Citizen Engagement Roadmap.
• Identifying and differentiating relevant stakeholders (government, NGOs, academia) based on their roles in accountability, collaboration, and direct action.
• Assessing legal frameworks and existing participatory practices to understand the enabling environment for citizen involvement.
• Evaluating how sectoral strategies and the 2050 low-emission development plan incorporate locally led climate actions (LLCAs) and documenting examples of LLCAs, focusing on marginalized group inclusion, community-driven development, and devolved climate finance. The plan will also outline opportunities and challenges for government and civil society in fostering transparency, public participation, and providing policy recommendations for a citizen-centered, whole-of-society approach to climate action.
