Objective & Description

The main goal of the HOUSEFUL project is to develop and demonstrate an integrated, systemic service (the HOUSEFUL Service) consisting of 11 circular solutions co-created by stakeholders across the entire housing value chain. The HOUSEFUL Service focuses on the circular management and efficient use of water, waste, energy, and material resources throughout all stages of the European building life-cycle. This service will be offered through an online Software as a Service (SaaS) tool, allowing for the replication of proposed circular solutions as Circular Economy Business Opportunities (CEBOs) at the EU level. These opportunities include renting, leasing, customer service, capacity building, or a combination of these services.

HOUSEFUL aims to accelerate the systemic shift towards a circular economy in the housing sector by providing the best strategies to facilitate decision-making among stakeholders.

The project activities include:
• Designing new, more efficient processes and procedures (EPP) for the construction, refurbishment, and demolition phases of a building’s life cycle, leading to a net reduction in resource usage (materials, energy, and water).
• Minimizing waste sent to landfills, with a target of reducing waste from the current 40% to 10% over the next 10 years, in line with the EU Circular Economy Package’s goal of 5% by 2030.
• Selecting and using sustainable materials to improve the energy efficiency of buildings.
• Engaging stakeholders from across the building value chain to co-create circular solutions together.
