Objective & Description

GGGI is supporting the national adaptation planning process for the State of Qatar, enabling the country to identify and address its medium- and long-term priorities for adapting to climate change. This effort is part of Qatar’s broader development strategy and green economy transition.
A key element of this process is the development of Qatar’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP), which is based on the outcomes of existing climate risk and vulnerability assessments and the identified climate change adaptation measures across the State’s six key sectors: (i) public health, (ii) water, (iii) energy, (iv) agriculture and livestock, (v) infrastructure, and (vi) biodiversity. These measures are designed to address the identified climate risks.

The primary goal of this assignment is to help the State of Qatar reduce its vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, enhance its overall climate resilience, and integrate climate change adaptation into broader development planning across various sectors and levels.

Specifically, this consultancy will help Qatar:
• Assess and prioritize the identified adaptation measures.
• Establish the risk baseline and prioritize actions for Qatar’s NAP in alignment with broader policies and national targets.
• Engage with relevant authorities, agencies, and stakeholders across the six key sectors to support the NAP formulation process.
