Laura Alcalde Sanz

    Laura has worked for the Universidad of Barcelona in the evaluation of non-conventional wastewater treatment technologies (stabilisation ponds, infiltration-percolation, and constructed wetlands) and conventional wastewater treatment technologies for wastewater reuse. She has also worked for the Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel in the evaluation of integrated stabilization pond systems in the Negev desert for reclamation and reuse of wastewater in agriculture. Most recently she works for the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission where she participates in the European Innovation Partnership on Water, providing scientific and technical support to the European Commission research projects related to water innovation and eco- industries.

    She is a specialist in: sustainable water resource management, stabilisation ponds, microbial indicators, wastewater treatment, urban side water reuse for agriculture application and capacity building.

    Her countries of experience are: Spain, Morocco, Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil.
